This server bears the name of the central character of the drama Nathan the Wise by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. This character was inspired by the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. The figure of Nathan and his Parable of the Three Rings have come to symbolize the commitment of the German Enlightenment to religious tolerance and cultural diversity.
From this server, you can access German WebCALIS SQL. Before using this program for the first time, please read and print out the file WebCALIS Directions. A summary of the umlaut keys and correction codes is contained in the file Tips on Using WebCALIS.
This semester all students in GER 201 or GER 202 have your course number, a hyphen, and the first four letters of your last name as your user name for WebCALIS. If you are in an advanced course, you will have adv, a hyphen, and the first four letters of your last name.

If two or more students in a section have the same first four letters, your user name includes the first three letters of your last name and a number:

Your password is the last four digits of your social security number with no hyphens. You can access this program by typing the word "guest" for both user name and password, but your results will not be saved.
